I am James, and I try my best to be optimistic about life, to see the good in all things, and to see the best in people. Each day, I embody kindness and mindfulness in everything that I do. I believe movement and activity can be the best medicine. I enjoy being active by playing basketball and exercising. Recently, I began to be out in nature intentionally. In addition to being active, I enjoy watching sports with my family, and I am working to
embrace being a cat person, as my partner has three cats.
I have 20 years of experience working with youth and families in alternative school settings, residential treatment, community mental health, and school settings. I have considerable knowledge in special education- 504 plans and assisting kids and families navigating various mental health challenges.
I work with clients where they are at in the present moment. I make every intention to understand their perspective on things in life and respect one's thoughts, emotions, and viewpoints. I try to incorporate various therapy techniques (strengths-based approaches, cognitive behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing) along with holistic approaches (life coaching, mindfulness, and growth mindset) to help clients see that they have the capability to foster life-long change. It is my hope that my services can help people develop more self-awareness and understand that they have control and choice over how they respond to things in life that may be outside of their control.
